Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Opening of the 26th ASEAN-China Summit, Jakarta Convention Center, DKI Jakarta Province, September 6, 2023

Good morning,

Your Excellency Premier Li Keqiang;

Your Majesty, Distinguished ASEAN Leaders,

Welcome to Jakarta Premier Li.

The PRC (People’s Republic of China) is one of the four ASEAN dialogue partners with comprehensive strategic partner status. And, this year marks 20 years of PRC accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.

We need to interpret all of this by realizing concrete cooperation with mutual benefits, which can only be done if we have mutual trust, which definitely needs to be built and maintained by all parties. The trust and concrete cooperation can function as positive forces for regional stability and peace.

That concludes my remarks. And, I hereby declare the 26th ASEAN and PRC Summit open.

Next, I invite His Excellency Premier Li Keqiang, Prime Minister of the PRC, to deliver his opening speech.
