Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Sending-Off Ceremony of Humanitarian Aid for Palestine and Sudan, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, April 3, 2024
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Distinguished Ministers;
Honorable Speaker of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), Chief of the Indonesian National Police, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB);
Excellencies, the Ambassador of Egypt and the Ambassador of Sudan;
Ladies and Gentlemen.
The Indonesian Government remains committed to maintaining world peace and is actively involved in humanitarian missions, both in times of war and disaster. We are deeply concerned about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the internal conflict in Sudan, which has resulted in many casualties. Therefore, once again, we are carrying out a humanitarian mission by sending aid to Egypt and Sudan to assist our brothers and sisters in need.
The total aid dispatched today is worth approximately Rp30 billion, in the form of medicines and medical equipment, as well as other aid tailored to the needs on the ground in accordance with official requests from the Egyptian Government and the Sudanese Government. The aid will be delivered directly to Egypt and Sudan, and the delegation, led by Mr. Suharyanto, Head of the BNPB, consists of all elements of ministries and institutions as well as government partners. We hope the aid can help alleviate our affected brothers and sisters in Gaza and Sudan.
This concludes my remarks. By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby send off Indonesia’s humanitarian aid for Egypt and Sudan.
Thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
