Thank you, Prime Minister Kishida.

Excellencies,

Infrastructure development such as seaports, airports, toll roads, and power plants includes in Indonesia’s top agenda to advance the nation and realize equality, as well as to boost national competitiveness.

Infrastructure development used to be centralized in Java island, one of around 17,000 islands in Indonesia. Consequently, 56 percent of Indonesian population and 58 percent of economic activity are centralized in the island. We will continue to narrow the gap by promoting infrastructure development outside Java, be it the development of seaports, powerplants, airports, toll roads, and the like.

These efforts will lead to equality, Indonesian-centric development, for example construction of the new capital of Nusantara (IKN), a forest city consisting of 70 percent green space with 80 percent of its energy to be sourced from renewable energy. It would showcase transformation in Indonesia that is open to investment and cooperation on transportation, health, technology, education, and tourism sectors.

The construction of the capital is financed by the State Budget and state-owned enterprises, we also welcome investment from the private sector and investors if the internal rate of return (IRR) of the development shows a positive result.

To that end, support from the PGII is essential for infrastructure development in Indonesia and it can be achieved through concrete investment and other innovative financial schemes. Let us collaborate for equity and welfare of the people.

I thank you.
