First of all, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to President Barrack Obama for giving a warm welcome to me and my delegate.

Indonesia very much welcomes the strategic partnership and this partnership is a symbol of the promotion of cooperation between Indonesia and the United States.

Indonesia is a country with the biggest Moslem population in the world and is the third biggest demoracy in the world.

Islam in Indonesia is a moderate Islam.

Islam in Indonesia is a modern Islam.

Islam in Indonesia is a tolerant Islam.

We believe that Islam in Indonesia is able to play an important role in safeguarding democracy and pluralism and in the fight against radicalism and terrorism.

Second, Indonesia’s economy is an open economy. With the population of (around) 250 million people, Indonesia’s economy is the biggest in South East Asia. And Indonesia aims to join the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP).

Third, Indonesia is one of the biggest countries in digital economy. And I have declared this digital economy as one of Indonesia’s priorities. I have invited the United States to cooperate with Indonesia in this digital economy.

With President Barrack Obama, I have also discussed climate change issue and we have agreed to deal with this issue. Back home, we are currently facing a huge challenge, which tackling peat land fires and which extinguishing the fires poses an enormous challenge for Indonesia.

President Barrack Obama and I have also agreed to strengthen and promote cooperation between Indonesia and the United States.
