Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia during an Inspection of COVID-19 Vaccination Drive for Students, 31 Agustus 2021, at SMAN 1 Beber, Cirebon Regency, West Java Province

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

I just inspected the vaccination drive organized by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) in collaboration with West Java Provincial Government and Cirebon Regency Government with a target of 2,000 students and santri (students of Islamic boarding schools) that has been running well. We hope the vaccination will provide protection, protect the students and santri in preparation for face-to-face learning, which insyaallah will start in early September or next week, right Mr. Governor.

I have also ordered that the vaccination drive for students and santri to be carried out on a large scale, especially in areas with high rates of COVID-19 transmission. Therefore, we hope that the transmission of COVID-19, especially the Delta variant, can be controlled.

I think that concludes my remarks.

I have also asked the students. Do you want to have face-to-face learning? They said, “We do…”

Those who want face-to-face learning, please raise your hand. It turned out all students want face-to-face learning to start immediately. But of course, when face-to-face learning starts, I hope that all students remain disciplined in adhering to health protocols.
