Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia during Disbursement of Social Assistance at Tual Post Office, and Motorbike Handover for 1503/Tual Military Command, Southeast Maluku Regency, Maluku Province, September 14, 2022
Today we are in Southeast Maluku regency to distribute fuel cash assistance.
We have just distributed it to around 100 people, but there are around 4,000 [beneficiaries]. Throughout Indonesia, as we know, fuel cash subsidy to date has been disbursed to 5,999,567 beneficiaries in 431 regencies and municipalities.
It has started.
Though it has been disbursed to only 5.9 million, nearly six million out of 20.6 million beneficiaries, the process is still underway. And six million is a huge amount. We have successfully disbursed that much in less than a week.
In addition, wage subsidy has been disbursed to 4,122,000 out of 16 million people. Well, I think everything is clear.

Based on the President’s directives, today I handed over 40 motorbikes to Military District Command (Kodim) 1503/Tual in Southeast Maluku regency. It is just the beginning. We will provide motorbikes for all Babinsa [non-commissioned officers in villages] and we have plan to produce motorbikes in Indonesia manufactured by [state-owned weapon manufacturer] PT Pindad and [state-owned electronics manufacturer] PT Len under the defense industry holding, namely the Defend ID.
That is part of the grand design. The President has ordered Ministry of Defense to draw up a long-term defense plan.
Therefore, the development of territorial power is one of the most important things for us so we will empower all Babinsa, Koramil [Military Sub-district Command], Kodim [Military District Command], Korem [Military Sub-Regional Command], and Kodam [Military Regional Command].
It is our grand design and is part of the national defense, namely hankamrata; total people’s defense and security system. Our people, our country is very big and very rich. The President has ordered us to protect it. If we are rich and cannot protect it, it will be our fault if our richness is taken away from us.
