Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia During Groundbreaking Ceremony of Paralympic Training Center, in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java Province, March 8, 2024

Minister of Youth and Sports,

Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces,

Governor of Central Java,

Regent of Karanganyar,

Members of the House of Representatives Commission X,

Chairperson of the NPC (National Paralympic Committee) of Indonesia Senny Marbun,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The plan to build a training center for Paralympics athletes has been conceived long ago. Pak Senny Marbun told me about it and alhamdulillah, thank God, we can execute the construction this year that is set to be completed also this year. Building on an eight hectare-land or 80,000 m², the construction uses a budget of Rp409 billion. I need to mention it so that everyone knows the huge budget.

The Paralympic Training Center in Karanganyar regency includes a sports hall, a dormitory building, and an athletic field. The sports arena will be equipped with the main pool, a recovery pool, a boccia court, a shooting range, a table tennis court, a badminton court, and a multifunction room.

In addition, the dormitory or apartment complex consists of two 5-storey buildings with full capacity of 188 units. There will be a football pitch, a 400 meter athletics track, eight 100 meter running track, as well as tracks for long jump, shot put, and high jump. It will have all the facilities. Since it is situated in a location near Mount Lawu with fresh air, everyone will feel at home. This training center that is built for disabled athletes has international standard.

I hope that athletes can make the best use of this Paralympic training center to train and improve their achievements. I am glad that in SEA Games, we always get the first place; in ASEAN Paralympic we were placed at the 6^th, or sometimes at the 8^th, but the last one, we were at the 6^th place. It is excellent. In Southeast Asia, we always be the overall champion. I hope that the achievements will be far better and become and inspiration and bring glory to the nation and the country.

That concludes my remarks in this auspicious occasion.
