Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia During Inauguration of the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM), in Bandar Lampung City, Lampung Province, August 26, 2024

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Distinguished Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Minister of Trade, Acting Governor of Lampung Province, Mayor of Bandar Lampung, Regent of South Lampung.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Esteemed Guests.

Today, we will inaugurate the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in Bandar Lampung City. This is one of the national strategic project (PSN) in Lampung province that has been in progress since 2020. The major issue in nearly every city across our country is ensuring clean water for households. This SPAM project will benefit around 60,000 households. This is a very, a very large capacity. It was constructed with a significant budget of Rp1.38 trillion, equivalent to Rp1,380 billion through the Government and Business Entities Cooperation (KPBU) scheme.

Earlier, I observed that the water is very clean. And, according to the Director General, it is even better and cleaner than bottled water, with an NTU (turbidity level) of 0.278. In comparison, the Ministry of Health’s standard is 3, and bottled water typically has 0.8, making this water better. Therefore, I urge Mayor [of Bandar Lampung] and Regent [of South Lampung] to promote the expansion of the SPAM connections to households, so there will be more people can benefit from this facility.

That concludes my remarks. By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I hereby inaugurate the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in Bandar Lampung city, Lampung province.
