This afternoon, I am in Amakaka Village, Lembata Regency where flash flood has killed more victims here.

I have received a report that, as of this afternoon, a total of 163 victims in East Nusa Tenggara have died and 45 people are still in search. This is what we will continue to strive for so undiscovered victims can be found immediately. We’re aware that the ground is indeed rocky, with large stones, which makes it difficult for our heavy equipment to function. However, I ordered to continue the searching process and find those 45 victims who are still missing.

Second, for evacuation, I have ensured that since there are not so many refugees, it has been confirmed that the logistics will be sufficient. However, there were people who said that the fuel price increases. I accept the input.

Third, regarding the affected areas, I have discussed post-disaster management and recovery in the local area with Governor of East Nusa Tenggara and Lembata Regent. With the consent of the community, all residents in the affected areas will be relocated and the construction process will be carried out immediately.

Lastly, on behalf of myself and of the Government, I would like to extend my deepest condolences for the victims. May the souls of the victims rest in peace and be given the heavenly place, and may the bereft families  be given strength in these difficult times.

I think that concludes my remarks.

I thank you. (SA/LW)
