Your Excellency Chancellor Olaf Scholz,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is an honor for Indonesia to become a partner country once again for the Hannover Messe. “Making Indonesia 4.0” is a highly relevant theme for Indonesia currently under economic transformation through innovation and technology.

We have two grand strategies.

First, downstream industry. Indonesia is blessed with abundant natural resources, demographic dividends, a large market, and a robust economy. We harbor big potentials and aim to be a major player in EV industry. Indonesia’s economy is not a closed economy. In fact, we are very open to investment and cooperation in developing the country’s downstream industry. By 2040, there will be twenty commodities in our downstream industry road map, projected to attract an investment of US$545.3 billion. It is a huge opportunity and is mutually beneficial.

Second, green economy. Indonesia is committed to maintaining environmental sustainability and has taken concrete actions accordingly. The deforestation rate has decreased significantly, reaching the lowest level in the last twenty years, while forest fire rate has decreased by 80 percent. Rehabilitation of 600,000 hectares of mangrove forests – the largest in the world –  is set to be completed in 2024, while 30,000 hectares of green industrial areas will be built. By 2025, twenty percent of energy supply will be sourced from new and renewable energy and by 2050, all coal plants will be closed. We walk the talk.

Indonesia is also committed to ensuring that the energy transition produces affordable energy for our people, which surely requires investment and enormous funding of not less than US$1 trillion until 2060. To that end, Indonesia would like to invite German investors to develop green economy in our country.

Once again, Indonesia welcomes cooperation and investment.

Let us collaborate for our common prosperity.

I thank you.
