Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia During the Release of Sea Turtle Hatchlings at Kemiren Beach, South Cilacap District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java Province, 23 September 2021

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Good afternoon,

May prosperity be upon us all.

This afternoon I was at Kemiren Beach, in South Cilacap District, Cilacap Regency, to release 1,500 sea turtle, whose population is decreasing, to the sea. We hope the turtles will not be extinct. We released the Lekang turtle hatchlings and the green turtle hatchlings. The campaign is expected to create a healthy marine ecosystem and maintain environmental balance on the coasts across Indonesia.

I hope that this campaign will build public awareness to maintain and keep the turtles growing and increasing in number.

Furthermore, this turtle hatchling release campaign will not only be carried out in Cilacap. We will do it massively in beaches throughout the country
