Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia During Visit to Brondong Fish Trade and Distribution Center Thursday, 6 May 2021, Lamongan Regency, East Java Province

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

 Today, the Minister, Governor, Regent of Lamongan, and I visited the Brondong fish auction market, Lamongan Regency. I wanted to see firsthand the condition of fishermen during the pandemic. Agus, one of local fishermen, has told me that the condition is good, they can go to the sea as usual and the volume of fish catch is the same as before.

However, they complained about siltation in two locations within that port area and asked it to be dredged. I have told them that we will conduct dredging operations in the next two or three months. I also agreed to set bow light at higher place or to fix it. It is our fervent hope that the improvements can boost productivity and improve prosperity of local fishermen since ship docking and fish loading process will be more convenient.
