Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia on a Limited Meeting on Report of COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Working Committee Monday, 30 November 2020 at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
May prosperity be upon us.
Distinguished Vice President,
Distinguished Coordinating Ministers, Ministers, Chief of National Police, Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency.
On today’s limited meeting, I would like to address several issues.
First, I call on Minister of Home Affairs to once again remind the Governors, Regents and Mayors to take full control in their respective regions related to COVID-19 as well as economic issues. The duty of the Regional Head is to protect the safety of its citizens and as I said earlier, people’s safety is the highest law. Do pay attention to the number of active cases, recovery rate, death rate, and existing economic indicators.
I would like to remind you that two provinces need special attention due to the significant increasing cases in the past 2-3 days, namely Central Java and capital Jakarta. Do find out the cause of the increase.
Please be aware, based on data as of 29 November, our current active cases have increased to 13.41 percent. Although this is better than that of the global average, but it is increasing compared to that of last week. Last week it was 12.78 (percent), now it stood at 13.41 (percent). The same also goes to the recovery rate, last week it was 84.03 (percent), now it is 83.44 percent. Everything got worse. This is because of the increasing cases in the past weeks.
Third, I also request details regarding vaccines and the planning of vaccinations. Meanwhile, related to economic issues, I will also request for an update on the latest data.
That concludes my remarks.
