Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia on Inauguration of Post-Earthquake Disaster Infrastructure and Implementation of the Regional Road Presidential Instruction (IJD) of West Sulawesi Province at SMKN 1 Rangas, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province, April 23, 2024

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Good morning,

May peace be upon us all.

Distinguished Minister of PUPR (Public Works and Public Housing), Minister of Health, Governor of West Sulawesi and Regent of Mamuju.

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,

Beloved children.

Alhamdulillah, our hard work paid off. Today we will inaugurate 147 buildings that have been rehabilitated and reconstructed in West Sulawesi following the previous disaster, the earthquake disaster, and also the construction of three roads spanning 22.4 km which is handled by the Regional Road Presidential Instruction.

The rehabilitation and reconstruction of the infrastructure that we built in Mamuju and in West Sulawesi Province in general was based on direct instructions and orders that I conveyed during the last earthquake. I inspected it earlier, it’s finished, only the DPRD(Regional  House of Representatives) building and one Syuhada Mosque are not finished yet.

The budget that has been issued by the central government is Rp1.31 trillion. The 147 units of buildings and infrastructure that have been rehabilitated and reconstructed are 47 office buildings, 29 health facilities, 43 educational facilities including SMK (Vocational high school)  1 Rangas, 1 worship building, 1 sports facility, 7 flats, 2 traditional houses, and 17 drinking water infrastructure.

I saw the SMK 1 Rangas building, is it good? Compared to the previous one, is it better? However, the principal said to me, “Sir, this is still not enough, the children need dormitories because many live far from the school, so they have to rent a room in the neighborhood around the school.”

Soon we will build the dormitories at the request of the Principal, the Regent and also the Governor. There was also a request to provide electric car because at school, there were only old manual cars. This afternoon I sent an electric car for them to practice, not to drive.

I think that’s what I want to convey. By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this morning I inaugurate the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Post-Earthquake Infrastructure in West Sulawesi and the Implementation of the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in West Sulawesi Province.
