Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia on the Groundbreaking of LPS Office at Nusantara Capital, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, January 17, 2024

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
Good afternoon,
May prosperity be upon us all.

Distinguished Ministers of the Indonesian Onward Cabinet, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and Chief of the National Police (Polri), leaders and members of the Presidential Advisory Council, Governor of East Kalimantan, Regent of North Penajam Paser,

Distinguished Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority, along with the Regional Leaders Coordinating Forum (Forkopimda),

Distinguished Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners and all the commissioners,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Currently, under normal circumstances, if we go from Balikpapan to the Nusantara capital, it takes between one and a half hours to two hours. It even feels very far for the first-time visitor.  However, later when the toll road is finished, approximately 47 kilometers long, we will only need approximately 30 minutes from Balikpapan to Nusantara. Plus, if the airport is finished, from the new airport to the core area of the capital, it only takes 15 minutes.

I am happy that today we are carrying out a groundbreaking for the construction of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) building. Chairman of the LPS Board of Commissioners was previously stated that the LPS office compound is called Arthadhyaksa, which means customer protector, protector of customer assets. The construction will be carried out in stages. In stage one the main building will be built as the LPS operational center, stages two and three will continue with the construction of two other buildings, as well as supporting facilities.

I hope that the construction of the LPS office compound in Nusantara can increase public confidence, business sector confidence and investor confidence, because if LPS has started (the construction), it means that people will definitely believe that this new capital city will soon be ready. It will also increase the sense of security of the public, business actors, and investors as LPS will soon have an office at Nusantara. Bank Indonesia and OJK will also soon has an office at Nusantara.

This groundbreaking proves the seriousness of the Government’s commitment and readiness to build Nusantara into a world-class capital.

That concludes my remarks on this opportunity. By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I officially declare that the groundbreaking for the Arthadhyaksa Building, the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) Office, begins.
