Today, I visited the Bekasi regional hospital. We are all deeply concerned and shocked by the accident. On my behalf, and on behalf of the Government, I extend my deepest condolences.

An investigation into the incident will be conducted immediately to determine its causes. Broadly speaking, it has been observed that many railway crossings remain unguarded. This issue will be addressed swiftly. The Bekasi Regional Government has proposed the construction of a flyover, considering the high population density and the urgent need for reliable railway transportation. Approval has been granted for the immediate construction of the flyover with presidential assistance.

Across Java, there are approximately 1,800 similar crossing points, many of which date back to the Dutch colonial era and have existed for decades. It is now time to resolve these longstanding issues. Instructions have been issued for the prompt improvement of all such crossings. Measures may include the establishment of guard posts or the construction of flyovers, with implementation details to be determined. The estimated budget required is approximately Rp 4 trillion.

In the interest of public safety and given the critical importance of railway transportation, this expenditure is necessary. After decades without comprehensive action, the time has come to proceed.

That concludes my statement.

Journalist:
Mr. President, how many victims are seriously or lightly injured? Have any been discharged?

President Prabowo Subianto:
Several individuals have already been discharged. If I am not mistaken, approximately 60 victims remain? There are 54 victims remaining in total, and nearly all have received proper medical treatment, based on my observations. Some have returned home, while others continue to receive care. All in all, all victims get proper medical treatment.

Journalist:
What arrangements have been made regarding compensation?

President Prabowo Subianto:
Compensation will be provided. Thank you.
