Remarks of the President of the Republic of Indonesia during COVID-19 Mass Vaccination, 17 February 2021, at Tanah Abang Market, Jakarta Province
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
May prosperity be upon us all,
We continue the vaccination program that we have started on 13 January (2021). In the first batch, we have vaccinated health workers and in the second batch, which starts today at Tanah Abang Market Jakarta under the cooperation between Ministry of Health and the Government of Jakarta Province, we start vaccination for public servants and public workers. In our estimation, in the second batch there are 16.9 million people who will be vaccinated across Indonesia, plus 21.5 million (people) of the elderly. That is our target on the second batch.
And today we carry out (vaccination) at Tanah Abang Market. We have seen that everything runs well and the on the ground management is very good. We hope that public workers/public servants, be it security forces, traders, journalists, athletes, as well as workers in shops and malls, will all be vaccinated. And after it is carried out in Jakarta Province, it will be implemented in other provinces so that the number of vaccine recipients will increase significantly every day.
That concludes my remarks on this auspicious occasion. And finally, do not forget to implement 3M (wearing a face mask, keeping a safe distance, and washing hands).
I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. (RI/MMB)
