President Prabowo Subianto, Thursday (07/30), inaugurated the revitalization of Semarang Tawang Station in Semarang city. The revitalization of one of the oldest and most historic stations is an effort to preserve cultural heritage and improve the comfort and experience of train passengers.

A train passenger, Indra Wahyudi, who was waiting for his train to depart, said he felt a significant improvement in the station. He said Semarang Tawang Station, which has been operating since 1914, now looks tidier and more orderly.

“Now, the building looks better and more orderly for passengers and for those picking up passengers. It’s more organized,” he said.

Besides the improved comfort in the building, Indra said the management of the station area has improved significantly. One of the changes he noticed most was the flooding issue.

“It’s much better. There is no flooding anymore,” he said.

Yusi, a Salatiga resident who frequently uses services in Semarang Tawang Station also shared the same opinion. She said the station building is now tidier and more organized.

“Yes, I’m a regular here. It’s neater and more organized,” she said.

Yusi hopes the station revitalization will improve the quality of railway services to enhance public comfort when using public transportation.

“It needs more improvement in the comfort and services. It should be even better,” she concluded.  (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/MMB)
