Former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) through Commander of the Democratic Party Joint Task Force (Kogasma Partai Demokrat) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono has shared experiences in handling recent political, legal, and security issues to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“Especially after the announcement of 2019 elections results by the General Elections Commission (KPU) earlier on Tuesday (21/5),” Agus told reporters after meeting President Jokowi at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Wednesday (22/5).

According to him, SBY expressed hope that the Government can handle the situation in a peaceful manner. Agus also mentioned the need for appropriate solutions and approaches such as dialogue and communication forums, political and legal solutions, as well as security approach.

He expressed hope that any approach taken should cause as few victims as possible.

“However, laws should be firmly enforced. That is our hope,” he stated.

Agus went on to say that those unsatisfied with the election results may file a report in a constitutional way. “Take legal action. I hope the people can avoid any action that violates the law,” he said.

On the occasion, President Jokowi said that he wishes to be a leader and protector for all Indonesian people.

“That is what we hope, a leader for all,” Agus concluded. (GUN/OJI/ES)
