Security, Political Stability Crucial for National Development: President Jokowi

Security and political stability are of utmost importance in national development, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

The President made the statement when delivering a briefing before the students of School of Staff and Command of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the students of School of Staff and Leadership (Sespim) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) Year 2018, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (23/8).

“Investment will not come to a country that is not safe and politically unstable.” President Jokowi said.

The President added that investors would pay a close attention to security and political stability of a country before making investment. The President also urged the participants to safeguard investment in the regions because it is very important for economic growth.

Investment, the President continued, provides jobs for the people; thus, he reminded the participants not to let anyone hamper the investment.

“Investment will boost economic growth and provide jobs that the people need,” President further stated.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also invited the students to join the Government to disseminate the Government’s programs and works. “I invite all officers to disseminate (the Government’s works) in appropriate moments,” President further said.

In the meantime, Commander of School of Staff and Command Letnan General R.M Trusono on that occasion reported that the participants present at the event include 243 TNI and Polri officers, including from the Army, the Navy and  the Air Force.

Also present during the event were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Defense Ryamizard Ryacudu, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Tito Karnavian, and a number of high-ranking TNI and Police officers.
