“Serakahnomics” as New Enemy, President Prabowo Calls for People-Centered Economy

President Prabowo Subianto delivers his remarks at the official launch of the 80,081 Red and White Village/Urban Cooperatives (KDMP/KKMP), held at the Bentangan Red and White Village Cooperative, Bentangan Village, Wonosari District, Klaten Regency, on Monday (07/21)
President Prabowo Subianto called for concrete measures to address issues in the national food distribution system, particularly practices that harm farmers and the broader community. In his remarks at the official launch of the 80,081 Red and White Village/Urban Cooperatives (KDMP/KKMP), the President underscored the importance of the state taking bold steps to reform the economic system in favor of fairness and the people’s welfare.
One of President Prabowo’s main concerns is dishonest practices in the rice milling sector. The Head of State revealed that several major business players are suspected of buying unhusked rice below market prices and reselling ordinary rice under premium labels at prices exceeding the government’s retail ceiling.
“Rice mills are a vital branch of production for the nation and directly affect the livelihoods of many. If rice mills refuse to comply with and act in the national interest, then I will invoke the relevant legal authority. I say this firmly: I will confiscate those rice mills. I will seize them and hand them over to cooperatives to manage,” stated President Prabowo on Monday (07/21), at the Bentangan Red and White Village Cooperative in Klaten Regency.
According to a report received by President Prabowo, the potential losses caused by such practices could reach up to Rp100 trillion per year. The President stated that such funds should instead be allocated to vital sectors, such as education.
“If we can bring order to this, we would have Rp100 trillion every year. This year, we were only able to renovate 11,000 schools with a budget of Rp19 trillion. But if I had Rp100 trillion annually, we could renovate 100,000 schools. Indonesia has 330,000 schools. That means in three and a half years, we could renovate every school across the country,” President Prabowo affirmed.
President Prabowo also coined the term “serakahnomics” to describe an economic model that prioritizes profit above all else, without regard for social interests. The Head of State emphasized that such an approach is inconsistent with the spirit of justice and welfare mandated by the Constitution.
“Some refer to liberal economics, neoliberalism, classical economics, free market, socialism, command economy, and so on. But this is different. This is something else. I have a name for it, serakahnomics. This is serakahnomics,” said President Prabowo.
President Prabowo stated that fraudulent practices in food distribution can now be swiftly detected through regional quality control laboratories, technological advancements, and artificial intelligence. However, he emphasized that the true strength of the nation lies in the courage to uphold Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution as the ultimate weapon, calling on all elements of the nation to unite.
“I am confident that the entire MPR, DPD, and DPR will support me. I am certain that all village heads across Indonesia will stand with me. Let us uphold truth and justice. Let us place the interests of the nation and the people above all else. Let us not be divided by parties or groups, let our hearts beat only for the Red and White,” President Prabowo concluded with optimism. (BPMI SETPRES) (APN/MUR)
