Should Develop the Nation, Vice President Asks KNPI Do Not Just Think About Politics

Vice President Jusuf Kalla asked Indonesian Youth National Committee (KNPI) should not only think about politics, such as ministers, governors, regents or mayors. However, should have to have some idea of progress, intelligence, technology, education and entrepreneurship.

When giving a speech at the 14th Congress of Youth / KNPI 2015 in Jayapura on Thursday (26/2), Vice President admitted that in the future we do need a reliable politician. However, he reminds, if KNPI talking politics, certainly could no longer in favor of a particular group.

“KNPI should be able to collect the entire youth in Indonesia, in order to unite and think of progress to the nation together,” Vice President said. In order to survive in a situation such as this, while also develop the nation, according to Vice President, KNPI should have thought about the progress, intelligence, technology, education and entrepreneurship. “Because, that’s what can unite the organization of KNPI,” he said.

In addition, Vice President expect any level of professionalism that should be imparted to the youth, so it would appear that the profession spirit include the young entrepreneurs, young farmers, young researchers, young artists, and many other professions, so that this nation could catch up.

Do Not Just Be PNS

Furthermore, Vice President reminds the youth should not be complacent enough to be a Civil Servant (PNS) after finishing the school, moreover, currently being enacted moratorium on recruitment of civil servants. “How to draw closer the youth to entrepreneurial spirit, that’s what this country needs,” he said.

Vice President explained that there is a developed nation and a developing nation. Some argue that a developed country because of the country is great, there is also a small country but being developed countries, such as Singapore, Switzerland and New Zealand. Some people say that the developed countries are natural resource-rich countries. “That we less developed by countries that do not have natural resources such as Korea and Japan,” said Vice President.

Actually, the vice president said, the progress of a nation is determined by the ability to think and spirit to be developed and a great. “Progress depends on the spirit, and the ability of the nation,” he said. Therefore, Vice President reminded that the young generation, moreover KNPI, must put thoughts like that, instead of just thinking when will become a member of the House of Representatives.

Attending the event among others, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Tejo Edy Purdjianto, Minister of Forestry and Environment Siti Nurbaya, Governor of Papua Luke Enembe, as well as Chairman of KNPI Taufan E. Rotorasiko.

14th Congress of KNPI in Jayapura, Papua, which will take place from 24 to 28 February 2015 was opened by the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Imam Nahrawi. Congress attended by 2,000 participants, consisting of the core participants (voter), observers, and sympathizers.
