Singaporean Businesspersons Invited to Invest in IKN, President Jokowi: This is a Golden Opportunity

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo invited Singaporean investors to invest in establishing Nusantara Capital City (IKN). According to President Jokowi, this is a golden opportunity for the investors to take part in building a nature-based future smart city.

“I suggest you not to hold back. This is a very interesting golden opportunity in Indonesia and you can be part of it,” President Jokowi said in his speech at Ecosperity Week 2023 held in Sands Expo and Convention Center, Singapore, on Wednesday (06/07).

President Jokowi emphasized that IKN is a comfortable place, good for doing business or living. Currently, he continued, the establishment of IKN has been started with the construction of basic infrastructure and central government facilities that are targeted to be completed next year.

“For private sector, at the early phase, we have prepared 300 investment packages with total amount of USD2.6 billion in various sectors, such as housing, transportation, energy, technology, and many more,” he explained.

Furthermore, the President reiterated Indonesia’s commitment in developing green energy and industry. It is implemented in the development of seedling nurseries in two different locations in Indonesia as a starting point of the development of IKN.

“Seedling nursery with the capacity of 16 million seeds per year in Rumpin district, West Java province and 15 million seeds per year in Mentawir subdistrict, East Kalimantan province,” President Jokowi mentioned.

In addition, President Jokowi ensured that Indonesia has big potentials of new renewable energies reaching up to 434 gigawatt from geothermal, wind, solar, biofuel, and hydro energies. President Jokowi mentioned that Indonesia has 4,400 highly potential rivers, such as Kayan river in Kalimantan island that will be a green energy source for Green Industry Zone in North Kalimantan.

“This is a big potential for producing green products from green industry which becomes a priority in downstreaming industry, solar panel and battery manufacture industry, and electric vehicle industry,” he added.
