Sinovac Vaccine Stored in Bio Farma Head Office

COVID-19 vaccine by China’s Sinovac, which arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Banten, on Sunday (6/12), was immediately taken to the Bio Farma Head Office in Bandung City, West Java province.

The vaccine was then stored in a cool room with a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius which has been sterilized and specially prepared at the Bio Farma Head Office.

Then the vaccine sample will be taken for quality testing by a team from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) and the Bio Farma.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in his statement on Sunday (6/12) welcomed the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia.

“We are very grateful that the vaccine is already available, meaning that we can immediately prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak,” said the President.

The President further emphasized that the BPOM still need to run several tests before distributing the vaccine to the public.

“All procedures must be followed properly in order to ensure public health and safety as well as vaccine effectiveness. Scientific considerations and the results of clinical trials will determine when vaccination can be started,” said the President.

The President also reminded the public to remain disciplined in carrying out health protocols. “Even though the vaccines are already available, the public still have to be disciplined in implementing health protocols, keep wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
