Social Minister Still Joins President Jokowi’s New Cabinet

Minister of Social Affairs Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita on Tuesday (22/10) was invited by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta in relation to his appointment in the President’s new cabinet.

“President Jokowi has assigned me tasks related to the development of excellent human capital in all sectors and the importance of manufacturing transformation,” Agus told the press after the meeting.

President Jokowi, Agus stated, also assigned him to make small industries become parts of the industry’s supply chains.

He also told the press to wait for the President’s cabinet announcement on Wednesday (23/10) for his specific post.

Regarding his new post, Agus said that the President is most aware of the needs or profile of the cabinet, including the figures he assigned. “We also have to be ready to assist Mr. President,” Agus stated.

On the occasion, Agus also stated that he is well acquainted with Juliari Batubara who is nominated as a candidate for new Minister of Social Affairs.

For the record, Agus served as Minister of Social Affairs on 24 August 2019 succeeding Idrus Marham. He was also member of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) for the 2014-2019 period. (FID/JAY/ES)
