Social Protection Program in 2020 Should be Well-Targeted, President Jokowi Says

In a bid to accelerate Social Protection Program, the Government ensures that the 2020 State Budget is ready to fund various programs including National Health Insurance (JKN) for 96.8 million beneficiaries, Family Hope Program (PKH) for 10 million families, and Non-cash Food Assistance Program (BPNT) for 15.6 million families, which will be distributed through Affordable Staple Foods Cards.

“The beneficiary families are expected to buy and choose more varied food by using Affordable Staple Foods Cards, because each family will receive Rp1.8 million per year,” President Jokowi said in his remarks at a Limited Cabinet Meeting on the Acceleration of Ready-for-Work Program and Social Protection Program, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/12).

President Jokowi went on to say that the Government also allocated the State Budget to Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) for tertiary education for approximately 818,000 students.

“I urge relevant ministers to immediately implement the social aids programs including Pre-Employment Cards, JKN, KIS, PKH, and BPNT,” the President said, adding that the card distribution should be handed out correctly to the target, “stressed President Jokowi.
