Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Alhamdulillahi rabbil ‘alamin. [Introduction of remarks in Islamic fashion]

This morning, we performed Eid al-Adha prayer 1443 Hijri/2022.

We value Eid al-Adha as an act of tawhid [the oneness of God] and a moment to spread kindness as much as we can to others, to spread happiness to the people around us. We must not only carry out qurbani as we sacrifice livestock but also make other deeds that I have mentioned earlier.

I also would like to remind us that COVID-19 is still here. Thus, wearing a face mask is an obligation both indoor and outdoor.

I have ordered regional governments at regencies and provinces, as well as the Indonesian National Defense Force (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to provide booster shot particularly for those living in cities with a high level of social interaction since it is really needed.

I think that concludes my statement on this occasion.

Could you elaborate more about sacrificial cows in other provinces?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

I don’t think it is necessary.

Will booster shot become an obligation for making trips in the future?

Will booster become a requirement for travel?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

We must remain careful. We must remain vigilant since COVID-19 is still here, particularly BA.4 and BA.5 variants are still found in all countries. Alhamdulillah, thank God, we managed to keep the cases under control, while other countries are experiencing 100,000 cases a day. We must pay close attention to it.

Can hajj pilgrimage be performed this year, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)
Yes, it can, Alhamdulillah. I forgot to tell that. Let us pray for the safety, health, and patience of our brothers and sisters who are now performing hajj so they can return to the country safe and sound, and have a mabrur [a complete and accepted hajj] pilgrimage.

Could you inform the public about… (inaudible)

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

I did it yesterday.

Thank you, Sir.
