What is the fundamental message that will be conveyed by Indonesia in the 2023 Chairmanship?

There are three important points. First, as I’ve mentioned earlier, ASEAN must remain relevant, relevant with the interests of the people, the region, and the world. The second point is about the stability and peace in Indo-Pacific region. ASEAN must make a major contribution. Third, it is vital to make ASEAN as the epicenter of economic growth. I think we will work on those three points.

Do you feel optimistic that the message will be well-delivered during Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship?

Well, though the current global condition is not favorable, the world is full of uncertainty, there are geopolitical issue, economic crisis, and food crisis, we must remain optimistic, be optimistic. In fact, becoming the Chair of ASEAN must develop our optimism.

Is it true that Myanmar’s issue is one of the main challenge in Indonesia’s Chairmanship?

Yes, we are consistent to ensure the implementation of the five-point consensus. We are consistent to make it happen. That’s it.
