Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Today I visit a nursery center in Rumpin, Bogor regency, West Java province with a number of ambassadors of friendly countries, namely the Ambassador of the United States, the Ambassador of Canada, the Ambassador of the European Union, the Ambassador of the UK, as well as the Country Director of the World Bank.

We would like to show them that Indonesia is serious in dealing with the impacts of climate change. By visiting this place, we show them that this nursery center can produce approximately 12 million seedlings a year.

I saw albasia or sengon seeds, eucalyptus seeds, teak seeds, mahogany seeds which they produce here. Later in January these seedlings will be ready to be planted in critical lands such as lands that experienced frequent floods or frequent landslides. We hope that by building a nursery like this, we can improve the environment and help tackling the impacts of climate change on the upstream side, particularly to prevent floods.

We will build approximately thirty similar nursery centers in the next three years. I also order all palm oil companies and mining companies to prepare nursery like this to improve their surrounding environment.

That concludes my statement.

I thank you. (EP/LW)
