Press:

Sir, can you explain your activities in Ancol today?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):

I came here to inspect the preparation of Formula E. I think the race track is ready. The paddock and the grand stand area need to be finished immediately. There is still time after Eid Al-Fitr and we hope that in early June we will be able to see the project completed.

Press:
Sir, is it already 100% completed? Or are there still some works to be finished?

Governor of Jakarta (Anies Baswedan):

The construction of the Formula E race track is 100 percent complete. The current work is to finish the construction of, as mentioned earlier by the President, the paddock, the grand stand, and the fence. Later, above these concretes a fence will be installed for protection, as well as the facility for guests who visit the mall next door. In general, the track is 100 percent complete.

Press:

Ok, Sir. How about mudik, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):

Mudik?

Press:

Yes.

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):

I will not go to Solo, (but) to Yogyakarta

Press:

Any agenda in Yogyakarta? Will you perform Eid al Fitr prayer in the city?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):

Yes.

Press:

Sir, this year the public is allowed to go mudik. If there is no spike in COVID-19 cases, will the Government shift from a pandemic to an endemic?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):

The Government allows the public to take part in mudik as the daily cases of COVID-19 are already very low and the number of active cases are already below 20,000. It’s low. However, we must remain vigilant for there is a transition period and we still have to be careful.

The Government will not ease mask mandates as other country did. The Government will assess situation of the transition state in the next six months. Then we can decide to lift the requirement to wear face masks in open spaces but not in confined spaces. The Government must go through several stages and take time before making a decision. We have some experiences in tackling a spike in cases of Delta and Omicron variants that showcased the importance of vigilance and carefulness.

Press:

How many days will you stay in Yogyakarta, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):

Still have not decided yet.

Press:
Will you organize an open house?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):

No, I will not. As I stated earlier, the Government calls on (the public) not to organize open house, especially for officials, since it attract crowds of people.

Press:
Thank you, Sir.
