President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)
Earlier this morning, I said that rescue, evacuations come first. I came here to ensure that the victims are well treated. Initially, there were 714 patients receiving inpatient treatment, but now it’s only 24. Some of them have been discharged, while others are referred to hospitals in Bandung and Jakarta for severe injury, and Sukabumi for severe injury. I think the treatment is excellent here. Patients with severe case are referred. That’s also good. For those who have been recovered, they are allowed to be discharged.

Sir, emergency shelters have been built in a number of locations. What do you think about it?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)

Logistics distribution and evacuation process will be hard since there are many spots. I have ordered the use of chopper, if necessary, why? Because there are many spots and mountainous terrain. I also called for evacuation of 39 missing persons as soon as possible before the rain comes. Hopefully, we can manage to carry on all processes so that we can focus on rehabilitation process since the aftershocks are nearly over. I think that concludes my statement. Thank you.

Reporter
Sir, evacuation process also had trouble since the area will be dangerous after heavy downpour. What do you think?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)
Alright. It [evacuation] has not started yet considering the soil is prone to landslide. It will be dangerous when it’s raining. Nevertheless, I already gave an order to start it. Thank you. (RAS/EP)
