Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Your Excellency President Mauricio Macri and First Lady,
It is an honor for me to receive the state visit of the President of the Argentine Republic H.E. Mauricio Macri. This is the first time for President Macri to pay a visit to Indonesia. We have met at the G20 Summit in Hangzhou, China and this time, we meet again ahead of the G20 Summit in Osaka.
Argentina is Indonesias second largest trading partner in South America. Previously, we have discussed the idea of enhancing our economic cooperation, especially in the sectors of trading, agriculture, and strategic industries. We have discussed a number of efforts to balance the trade between the two countries, including the counter trade.
In the meeting, I have also offered various goods and services from Indonesias strategic industries. PT. DI (Dirgantara Indonesia) has offered aircrafts products. PT. GMF (Garuda Maintenance Facility) has offered cooperation in maintenance services. PT. INKA (Industri Kereta Api) has offered international standardized locomotives and railroad car. This afternoon, President Macri will discuss it with PT DI and PT INKA executives to get a clearer picture.
We have also communicated the possibility of Indonesian agricultural commodities, such as snake fruits, mangosteens, pineapples, and others to enter Argentina.
For this reason, I encourage measures to bring our businessmen closer. Among other things is by inviting the participation of Argentina’s businessmen at the Trade Expo Indonesia.
Indonesia also continues to push for improvement in trading cooperation with MERCOSUR, the largest trade block in the South American Region consisting of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
And to reinforce cooperation in the sectors of education, trading, and investment, today, an MoU on education cooperation and Joint Ministerial Statement on the Establishment of the Working Group on Trade and Investment have been signed.
And as agrarian countries, I also see the potential for cooperation in agriculture. And I welcome the cooperation in agricultural technology system development as an implementation of the Action Plan for Agricultural Cooperation between Argentina and Indonesia.
