His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, along with all delegates,

It is an honor for Indonesia to receive His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.

This is a historic visit, and for the first time, a Swedish Head of State paid a state visit to Indonesia in the 65-year history of our bilateral relations.

Indonesia and Sweden have many things in common in foreign politics, playing an active role in the UN peacekeeping in favor of Palestinian independence, and even we have agreed on a trilateral cooperation to assist Palestine since 2015. And we are prioritizing a peaceful settlement in dealing with the conflicts.

This is of course an asset to be capitalized, proven that economic relations of both countries are very intensive and diverse. Sweden is Indonesia’s largest trading partner in the Nordic region. Sweden’s investment increased by more than 1,400 percent in 2016 compared to that of 2015. The number of Swedish tourists also increased by 15 percent in 2016, and this is the largest visit from the Nordic countries.

In addition to the aforementioned, His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden also discussed efforts to develop cooperation in the sector of new renewable energy through concrete cooperation.

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden is accompanied by 35 business delegates and the Indonesia-Sweden Executive Forum will be held. I welcome the signing of two intergovernmental cooperation documents on the visa-free for diplomatic and service passports, as well as cooperation in transportation sector, air navigation and airport, as well as creative industry.

Several partnerships are also signed separately, namely cooperation in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, science park, and education financing.

That is all I can tell you. I invite His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden to deliver his views.

I thank you. (PR, Cabinet Secretariat) (MUR/AW/YM/Naster)
