Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia in Response to Research Results on High Temperature Capability to Kill the COVID-19 Virus, Friday, 24 April 2020, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta
Date 25 April 2020
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
This morning, I heard a statement from Department of Homeland Security official of the United States who delivered a research result that air temperature, sunlight, and humidity level greatly affect the kill speed of the COVID-19 virus in the air and non-porous surfaces. The higher the temperature, the higher the humidity, and the presence of direct exposure to sunlight will further shorten the life span of the COVID-19 virus in the air and on non-porous surfaces.
This news is very encouraging for us because we live in tropical nature where the temperature is hot, the air is humid, and it is rich in sunlight.
However, do not forget that the protocol for preventing transmission of COVID-19 must continue to be carried out in a strongly disciplined manner. First, wash your hands, always wash your hands; second, always use mask; third, keep your distance; and fourth, increase your immunity, increase your body immune’s system.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
