Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia on Cooking Oil Cash Assistance, Merdeka Palace, April 1, 2022

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

We are aware that cooking oil price has risen significantly as a result of the surge in palm oil prices in the international market. To ease the burden of the people, the Government will provide cooking oil cash assistance. The assistance will be disbursed to 20.5 million families included in the list of Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) and Family Hope Program (PKH) recipients, as well as 2.5 million street vendors selling fried food.

The amount of the assistance is Rp 100,000 [per recipient] per month. The Government will disburse the assistance for three months, namely April, May, and June and the assistance will be disbursed in advance in April 2022 with the amount of Rp 300,000.

Finally, I order Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Social Affairs, the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police to work hand in hand so that the distribution of the cash assistance will run smoothly.
