Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia on Flight Information Region Adjustment, September 8, 2022

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

For a long time, our air space over the islands of Riau and Natuna has been managed by Singapore. Thanks to the hard work of all parties, we have succeeded in taking over the management of air space over the Riau and Natuna Islands to the Republic of Indonesia and this will increase Jakarta’s Flight Information Region area to 249.575 square kilometers.

Alhamdulillah, I have signed Presidential Regulation on Ratification of the Flight Information Region (FIR) Agreement between Indonesia and Singapore. The agreement is a step forward for international recognition of Indonesia’s air space which also increase aviation safety and security and increases non-tax state revenues, and it can serve as a momentum for modernization of aviation navigation equipment and the development of Indonesian human capital.
