Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

I have received report from Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff on efforts to search and rescue the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine.

On Saturday, 24 April 2021, the Indonesian Navy raised the status of KRI Nanggala-402 from lost contact (submiss) to sinking (subsunk).

This tragedy has shocked us all, not only the families of the 53 crew members, the Hiu Kencana Corps as well as the entire Indonesian Navy, but also all Indonesian people.

We the Indonesian people would like to express our deepest sorrow for this tragedy, especially to the families of the submarine crew members. They are the best sons of the nation, the best patriots who guard the sovereignty of the country.

We will continue our best in the efforts to search and rescue. To that end, let us send our prayers and best wishes to the 53 best patriots who have guarded the country’s sovereignty. And, for all of the family members to be given patience, fortitude, and strength.

Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. (FI/EP)
