Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia on the 2024 State Civil Apparatus Candidates (CASN) Recruitment at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, January 5, 2024

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Peace and prosperity be upon us.

Ladies and gentlemen, my fellow countrymen,

In the face of rapid technological disruption, the Government needs skilled young learners from various disciplines to support digital-based public services, boost bureaucratic efficiency, and encourage improved performance as well as improve government accountability. The Government is providing opportunities for fresh graduates by opening as many as 690,000 state civil servant candidates (CPNS) formations in 2024, including 207,000 and 483,000 formations for central institutions and regional institutions, respectively.

The Government will also resolve the management of non-state civil apparatus based on the National Civil Service Agency (BKN) database, as mandated by Law Number 20 of 2023 on State Civil Apparatus. This year, it will recruit as many as 1.6 million formations for those who have not been appointed as government employees with work agreements (PPPK). These formations will be allocated for teachers and lecturers, health workers, and technical personnel as needed. Thus, this year the Government will open the recruitment of 2.3 million formations for state civil apparatus candidates.
