At the G-20, President Jokowi Shall Encourage to Take Actions to Fight Against Tax Evasion

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo as well as several high-ranking officials such as Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Head of Investment Coordinating Board Thomas Lembong, on Wednesday (5/7) morning, departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base to start his series of visit to Turkey and Germany.

Head of Press, Media, and Information Bureau of Secretariat of the President Bey Machmudin said that the visit to Turkey is a return visit of President Erdogan’s visit to Jakarta in 2015.

“In addition, President Jokowi will also use this visit to enhance cooperation of both countries in a number of sectors, among others, economy, strategic industry, and counter terrorism,” Bey said.

Meanwhile, in Germany, the President is going to attend the G-20 Summit. In this Summit, according to Bey, the President will encourage the G-20 to be part of the solutions over a number of global challenges. “In particular, in encountering terrorism threats. The President shall be a keynote speaker in that session,” he said.

Regarding global economy and finance, Bey also explained that President Jokowi will mention about the importance of a joint action of the G-20 member countries to fight against tax evasion, considering the G-20 should be capable of being the driving force behind an inclusive, sustainable, and just economic growth.

 

To Meet the Governor of Aceh

On the way to Turkey, the President as well as First Lady Ibu Iriana will stop by in Banda Aceh to congratulate the Governor and Deputy Governor of Aceh for 2017-2022 period, Irwandi Yusuf and Nova Iriansyah at the Regional House of Representatives of Aceh. They will  be inaugurated by Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo today at 9 a.m.

Several officials presented at the Airport for the departure of President Jokowi and Ibu Iriana. They were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Commander of Indonesian National Defence Forces Gen. Gatot Nurmantyo, Chief of Indonesian National Police Gen.
