The Government Regrets the Adverts ‘Fire Your Indonesian Maid Now’ in Malaysia

The Indonesian government feels uncomfortable and annoyed with ads that have the words “Fire Your Indonesian Maid Now” by a private company in Malaysia. Minister of Manpower, Hanif Dakhiri and Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Herman Prayitno have expressed the strong protest against the adverts which harassing pride of Indonesia.

Minister of Manpower, Hanif Dakhiri claims to have coordinated with the Ministry of Manpower Malaysia, related to adverts of cleaning tools manufacturer of RoboVac, and the Malaysian said that would be assisted to solving it.

“Our public considers that it is degrading. I submit to the Minister of Manpower of Malaysia, Indonesian nation’s discomfort over the ads that are considered by the Indonesian public was contemptuous of Indonesia,” Hanif said.

The Government also receives many complaints related to that ads, and related with our protest the Minister of Manpower of Malaysia has promised that he will truly help resolve the problem.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur, on Tuesday (3/2) has sent a protest note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia for ads of cleaning tools manufacturer, RoboVac, which have the words “Fire Your Indonesian Maid Now”.

In that protes note was submitted the deep regrets of Indonesian government against the private companies ads RoboVac, which was degrading to the people of Indonesia. Furthermore, the Embassy asked that the Malaysia authorities to ban such advertising, including ads in the company’s website RobVac (http://neatrobotcleaner.com.my).

“Embassy also asked the Malaysian Government to take measures to ensure that the ads any product  which containing racist and offending the Indonesian people will not be repeated in the future,” said Dubesar RI in Kuala Lumpur, Herman Prayitno, as quoted from the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, the Embassy of Indonesia has also commissioned a retainer lawyer to meet the company and legal conducted an analysis in order to carry out further legal measures, and the Embassy of Indonesia has reported the ads to the Regional Police of Selangor.

Ambassador Herman underlined the importance of both nation and the state to continue to strengthen people-to-people links that the two nations can be mutual respect and appreciate each other, especially when the ASEAN countries will soon enter the order of the ASEAN Community.
