The Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Commander Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and the Indonesian National Police Chief Gen. Idham Azis, on Wednesday (13/01), took part as the recipients of the first COVID-19 vaccination, joining President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

Along with doctors and medical personnel, the TNI and the National Police act as the forefront of COVID-19 handling in Indonesia. The TNI Commander ordered all soldiers to participate and make the free vaccination program a success.

“This morning, I will receive the COVID-19 vaccination. I also hope that all TNI soldiers and the public will also follow and make the vaccination program for the Indonesian people a success so that we will soon be free from the dangers of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said before being vaccinated.

The National Police Chief also ordered all levels of the National Police throughout Indonesia to do similar efforts.

“I am the first person in the National Police to receive the vaccination. I hope that the entire National Police from Sabang to Merauke can witness and abolish all doubts,” he said.

Idham also invited the public to take part in the vaccination program to immediately get out of the pandemic. (DND/UN) (FI/LW)
