Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has expressed his support for the 2021 Creativepreneur Conference that is held as an effort to boost the country’s creative economy sector currently affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This event is expected to raise our spirits in the midst of the pandemic and economic slowdown. I’m aware that tourism sector is currently in an unstable state, and it can be supported by the creative economy sector,” the Minister said in a press conference of the 2021 Creativepreneur Conference which was held virtually, Monday (5/4).

Sandiaga said that the country takes part in the development of tourism and reative economy sectors. In the event that will take place from 9 – 11 April 2021, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will present and listen to the input and complaints from creative economy players.

“We will assign a special team to train how to organize an event that still implements the CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment) protocols. The point is that the State is present, that is the key word,” he said.

In the meantime, Presidential Staffer Putri Tanjung, who is also the initiator of Cretivepreneur, said that the event adopted a theme “Developing Sustainable Indonesia through Creativity”. Through this conference that will be aired live, creative industry players and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) will share their perspectives and tips on success in the creative industry for the younger generation so that they are interested in getting involved in the industry. “This is the biggest ever Creativepreneur Conference, because even though we carried out the conference virtually, it will be still engaging and can be watched by everyone since it will be a live-streaming conference,” Putri said.

“This event will start on Friday. Friday-Saturday-Sunday from morning to evening with 40 speakers in total and 19 topics related to every sub-sector in the creative industry,” she added.

On that occasion, Putri expressed hope that the event that has been held since 2014 can inspire young people to be involved in the creative industry in Indonesia.

Alhamdulillah, we’ve been conducting this event for seven years in more than 10 cities, and we have inspired more than 60,000 young people to become creative industry players. Insyaallah, we can inspire more creative industry players to be more innovative. Hopefully, we can also inspire young people to get involved in the creative industry,” she said.
