Trade Minister Inspects Sugar Market Operations in Bogor, Tangerang

Minister of Trade Agus Suparmanto inspected the distribution of sugar through market operation to ensure the public can get sugar at the price ceiling of Rp12,500 per kg.

“The market operation for sugar which is held under a cooperation of Ministry of Trade and Sungai Budi Group supplies 24 tons of sugar consisting of packages of 1 kg to the sellers at traditional market every day until Eid 2020 to be sold directly to the people,” Minister of Trade Agus Suparmanto said when inspecting market operation for sugar at Pasar Baru Market, Bogor, West Java, Sunday (17/5).

According to the Minister, the market operation is a part of the Government’s commitments to stabilize the price of sugar which has surged lately.

The market operation which has been carried out since 16 May 2020 in Tangerang, and several days later in Bogor is conducted by strictly following the health protocols. The sellers and buyers must wear face masks and keep safe distance.

After inspecting the market operation of sugar, the Minister also inspected the prices of other basic commodities in the market. Based on the inspection, the prices of other basic commodities do not increase, and the stock will be sufficient for the people.

Afterwards, the Minister who was accompanied by Mayor of Tangerang Arief Rachadiono Wismansyah and Foods Task Force inspected market operation for sugar in Anyar Market, Tangerang, Banten on Saturday (16/5).

Through market operation, the Minister is committed to expedite supply and distribution of sugar so it can be available at affordable price in the market. Also on that occasion, he inspected the prices of other basic commodities and noted that there is no surge in price and there is enough stock for the people.
