After a Limited Meeting at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (3/3), Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi explained that all arriving (international flight) passengers must pass health screening at the airport.

They have their body temperature checked three times. Upon arrival, they must pass a thermal scanner and then airport officers check each passenger’s temperature using a thermometer gun. In addition, there is also on-board screening for aircrafts originated from Covid-19 red zone countries.

Regarding discount on domestic airfares, he explained that the policy will be implemented soon and be evaluated in the next three months.

“Initially we plan to launch the discount program on 1 March 2020 but we are still waiting the legal basis,” he added.

However, Budi continued, there are several indicators for flights restriction, including limitation for flights from Korea, Japan, Italy and Iran. Minister of Health and Minister of Foreign Affairs are in charge for the restriction, he added.

For the record, the discounted airfares shall apply to domestic tourists only, while for foreigners the discounted price is given through travel agent. (FID/EN)
