Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi on Friday (26/6) inspected preparation for the new normal at a number of transportation facilities in Yogyakarta province and in the neighboring Central Java city of Solo.

Those facilities include Yogyakarta Internation Airport, Solo’s Adi Sumarmo Airport, train stations in both Yogyakarta and Solo, as well as Solo’s Tirtonadi bus station.

“I visited Yogyakarta and Solo to inspect the implementation of new normal in transportation sector and to ensure strict health protocols have been followed to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Budi said.

According to the Minister, Yogyakarta and Solo are the leading tourism destinations in the country; thus, strict health protocols must be applied everywhere so that tourists may feel safe during their trip to the two places.

“We want the people who use transportation facilities in Yogyakarta and Solo to remain productive while doing their activities and safe from the transmission of COVID-19. We hope the tourism sector can rebound immediately,” Budi said, while

Budi also expressed appreciation to the transportation operators that have carried out strict health protocols in their respective sectors, while asking them to continue coordinating with the regional COVID-19 Task Force for any updates. (Ministry of Transportation/EN)
