Two Constitutional Judges Re-elected and New Ambassador to Nigeria Appointed

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (21/3), accompanied by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, witnessed the swearing-in ceremony of two constitutional judges and inaugurated the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, at the State Palace, Jakarta.

Aswanto and Wahiduddin Adams took their oath as Constitutional Judges for the period of 2019-2024 before the President after being re-elected by acclamation in a fit and proper test held by Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR RI). Meanwhile, Usra Hendra Harahap was appointed as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria after his last position as Coordinator of Special Staff to the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force (KSAU).

The ceremony was begun by singing the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, and was followed by the reading of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia on the Appointment of Constitutional Judges and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador by the Head of State Officials Administration Bureau – Harly Agung Prabowo.

Aswanto and Wahiduddin Adams were appointed based on Presidential Decree Number 32/P of 2019 on the Appointment of Constitutional Judges proposed by the House of Representatives. In the meantime, Usra Hendra Harahap was sworn-in based on Decree Number 33/P of 2019 on the Appointment of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia.

For the record, the Indonesian Ambassador to Nigeria is based in Abuja (Nigeria) and also accredited to a number of countries in Africa, such as Burkina Faso, Gabon, Ghana, Cameroon, Congo, and Liberia.

To uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and execute all laws and regulations in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia in 1945, and dedicate myself to the service of  the nation and the people, “Aswanto and Wahiduddin said in their oath before the President.
