U-22 National Team Member Convey Hopes, Aspirations to President Jokowi

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (28/2) at the Merdeka Palace backyard received the 2019 AFF Cup winner U-22 National Team.

During the meeting, President Jokowi listened to aspirations and wishes from the players.

The first wishe was delivered by Osvaldo Haay, the winning goal scorer who brought the national team 2-1 victory over Thailand in the 2019 AFF Cup final. Osvaldo said that some of his teammates wanted to become police officers or civil servants. “We also wishe for Mr. President recommendation because there are among us who absent for a long time in our college,” he added.

The captain of the team Bagas also reveal the same hope as Osvaldo. He also expressed hope for his teammates who have joined the Indonesian National Police to be given the ease of promotion.

Meanwhile, the top scorer of the 2019 AFF Cup Marinus Manewar expressed hopes that the Government will pay more attention to the condition of infrastructure in his hometown. For the record, Marinus comes from Sarmi which is located in the northern part of Papua Island.

Responding to the requests, President Jokowi promised to follow up to the relevant agencies.

On the occasion, the U-22 national team coach Indra Sjafri also expressed gratitude to President Jokowi invitation, adding that there were still two other important events entrusted to him, namely the AFC Cup and Sea Games. (FID/DNS/ES)
