Ulema Affirm Support for Gov’t Constitution-Based National Development Direction
Ulema (Islamic scholars) have affirmed their commitment to support the Government in realizing the national development, as stated in the Indonesian Ulema’s recommendations (Ijtima Ulama Indonesia).
The recommendation, which forms part of efforts to strengthen moral and national direction in contributing to the nation’s journey, was read out by K.H. Muhidin Almanafi before President Prabowo Subianto during the 28th anniversary celebration of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Thursday (07/23).
At the event, ulema, leaders of Islamic boarding schools, and other religious figures participating in the Ijtima Ulama Indonesia stated that they had carefully observed the nation’s current developments, changes in the global order, and the direction of national development under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto.
Based on the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah (those who adhere to the Sunnah and the majority), state ideology of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and the aspirations of the nation’s founding fathers,, they proposed a number of recommendations aimed at strengthening the country’s future direction.
They presented three recommendations.
First, to support the Government’s strategic initiatives in realizing a sovereign, advanced, and prosperous Indonesia.
Second, to ensure that a strong state continues to operate within the framework of the Constitution, justice, and good governance.
Third, to reaffirm the commitment of the ulema to continuously strengthen Nahdlatul Ulama as an Islamic organization, while empowering the Muslim community, the nation, and the state
“The Ijtima Ulama supports President Prabowo Subianto’s strategic measures to strengthen national sovereignty, promote economic self-reliance, accelerate industrialization and downstream processing, secure food and energy resilience, improve the quality of human resources, and guide national development in accordance with the principles of Pancasila and Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution for the greatest possible prosperity of the people,” K.H. Muhidin Almanafi said.
The Indonesian Ijtima Ulama also reaffirmed its commitment to providing constructive moral and religious oversight to the Government. The ulema further expressed their belief that strengthening religious organizations would have a positive impact on the life of the nation, including by reinforcing national unity and enhancing the state’s capacity to deliver public welfare.
After the recommendations were read, K.H. Muhidin Almanafi handed the document to President Prabowo Subianto.
The gesture symbolized that synergy between the ulema and the Government remains an important asset in maintaining national unity and ensuring that national development aligns with the interests of the people and the aspirations of the Constitution. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/EP)
