President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo called on the people to exercise their rights to vote in the upcoming General Election to be held on 17 April 2019.

“Go to the polling stations. Invite your friends and families. Exercise your rights to vote,” President Jokowi said during the 2019 Conferences on Church and Society (KGM) – Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) gathering, at Sultan Raja Hotel, Manado, North Sulawesi, Sunday (31/3).

According to the President, the people’s votes in the upcoming election will determine the future of the nation, adding that the Government has allocated a huge budget for the elections.

“I invite you to vote on Wednesday. We will have a long weekend after the Good Friday holiday. There is a tendency of people going on a vacation. Please, remind the congregations to vote on Wednesday,” President Jokowi said, adding that he does not prohibit the people to go on a vacation as long as they vote beforehand.

President Jokowi also noted that every single vote is very important for the future of the nation. (RAH/ES)
