Urban village fund aims to benefit the people and will be allocated for local infrastructure, including repairing roads and sewers, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“It shows Government’s commitment to the communities and the people,” President Jokowi said in his remarks when delivering land certificates at Ahmad Yani Football Field, South Jakarta, Tuesday (23/10).

The President further said that the Government has provided village fund in regencies and will expand the program by providing urban village fund in more than 100 cities in Indonesia.

The President said that urban village fund is needed to repair the sewers and roads. The President reminded us that the fund should not be linked to politics. Life is not only about politics, he continued, it is also about economy, culture, and many others.

Therefore, President Jokowi invited the people to filter every issue, to distinguish between the correct and the incorrect one. He further said that the people are getting smarter, are more mature in politics, and are not easily influenced by some politicians who sacrifice the unity, brotherhood, and harmony of the nation for the sake of their short-term interests.

Also present on the event were, among others, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Sofyan Jalil, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan.
